今回の秋田市議会議員選挙ですが、私は、地盤なし、時間なし（3か月の準備期間）、知名度なし、政党なし、お金なし（公務員を辞めて無職での挑戦）の無い無いづくしでした。しかし、当選することができました。私の得票2,166票のうち、適当に私を選んだ人はいなかったと思っています。しっかり調べて、この人に入れようと思って投票した人達の票が、積み重なった結果だったと感じています。一票が少しずつ積み重なり、やがて大きなものになり、変化を生む存在となったわけです。
例えば、大きな重い岩を想像してください。その岩を動かすため、一人で押してみるが岩が大きすぎて重すぎて動かない。だからたくさんの方に声をかけて、その岩を押してもらう。一人また一人と押す人が増えて、ついにその岩が動いたとき、その喜びは参加した人でないとわからないのだと思います。だから、私に投票してくださった2,166人は、当選した時、私と同様に心から嬉しかったと思います。
何年振りかに投票所に足を運び、あなたに一票入れたよという93歳の方とお話をする機会がありましたが、自分事のように心から喜んでくださっていて、心が温まりました。また、投票権がない市外、県外、国外の方からは、物理的な応援ではなく、精神的な応援をたくさんいただきました。その方達も同様に嬉しかったと思います。皆様、本当にありがとうございました！
“The Moment of Moving a Large Rock”
Regarding the Akita City Council election this spring, I had nothing – no political base, no time (only a three-month preparation period), no name recognition, no political party, and no money (I quit my job as a public servant and challenged the election as an unemployed candidate). However, I was able to win the election. I don’t think anyone just randomly chose me from among the 2,166 votes I received. I feel that the votes of those who took the time to investigate and decided to vote for me piled up, resulting in my victory. Each vote piled up little by little, eventually becoming something big, and I became an agent of change.
For example, imagine a big, heavy rock. You try to push it alone, but it’s too big and heavy to move. So you ask many people to help push the rock. As more and more people push, the rock finally moves. Only those who participated in the process know the joy of moving that rock. Therefore, I think the 2,166 people who voted for me were genuinely happy for me when I won.
I had the opportunity to talk to a 93-year-old who had come to the polling place for the first time in years and told me that she had cast her vote for me. She was genuinely happy as if it was her own achievement, and it warmed my heart. Also, those who could not vote because they lived outside the city, outside the prefecture, or outside the country, gave me lots of emotional support. I think they were also genuinely happy for me. “El Momento de Mover una Gran Roca”
Con respecto a las elecciones del Consejo de la Ciudad de Akita esta primavera, no tenía nada: ninguna base política, poco tiempo (solo un período de preparación de tres meses), ningún reconocimiento de nombre, ningún partido político y ningún dinero (renuncié a mi trabajo como funcionario público y desafié la elección como candidato desempleado). Sin embargo, pude ganar la elección. No creo que alguien me eligiera al azar entre los 2,166 votos que recibí. Siento que los votos de aquellos que se tomaron el tiempo para investigar y decidieron votar por mí se acumularon, lo que resultó en mi victoria. Cada voto se acumuló poco a poco, convirtiéndose eventualmente en algo grande, y me convertí en un agente de cambio.
Por ejemplo, imagina una roca grande y pesada. Intentas empujarla solo, pero es demasiado grande y pesada para mover. Entonces le pides a muchas personas que te ayuden a empujar la roca. A medida que más y más personas empujan, la roca finalmente se mueve. Solo aquellos que participaron en el proceso conocen la alegría de mover esa roca. Por lo tanto, creo que las 2,166 personas que votaron por mí estaban realmente felices por mí cuando gané. Tuve la oportunidad de hablar con una mujer de 93 años que había venido al lugar de votación por primera vez en años y me dijo que había votado por mí. Estaba realmente feliz como si fuera su propio logro, y eso me calentó el corazón. Además, aquellos que no pudieron votar porque vivían fuera de la ciudad, fuera de la prefectura o fuera del país, me brindaron mucho apoyo emocional.
