令和8年（2026年）3月1日（日）、秋田公立美術大学附属高等学院（通称：美大附）の卒業式に来賓として参列しました。美大附は1学年が30人弱であるため、少数精鋭というか、アットホームでもありながらお互い切磋琢磨してきたいわば戦友のような独特の空気と深い感動に心を打たれますが、今年もまた、卒業生一人ひとりの姿と言葉、そして式全体に流れる真摯な雰囲気に大きな感銘を受けました。
印象に残ったのは、秋田公立美術大学の北郷悟学長の祝辞です。
「これから皆さんは、物事の本質を見極め、人の心に響くものを創っていけるようになってほしい」
という言葉は、まさにクリエーターとしての本質を示すものであると同時に、美術の道に進む人だけでなく、すべての人に通じる普遍的なメッセージであると感じました。毎年、学長の言葉には深い感動を覚えますが、今年の言葉は特に、これから社会に出ていく若者たちの進むべき道を静かに照らすものでした。
美大附の生徒たちが、3年間を通して自らの技術を磨き、「創ること」に真剣に向き合って、外部の人々と関わりながら作品を生み出し続ける日々は、まさに自分自身を鍛える「修行」に近いものであり、その積み重ねが卒業式の厳粛で凛とした空気を生み出しているのだと感じました。自分も美大附バドミントン部のコーチとして関わっていますが、部員だった卒業生が堂々と歩いている姿に感動を覚えました。
そして、その歩みを支えてきたのは、保護者の皆様と教職員の方々だと思います。卒業式は、努力を重ねてきた生徒の感謝の思いと、それを支えてきた人々の誇りと喜びが交差する、かけがえのない瞬間でもあります。去年の卒業生に送辞を送った子が、今年は卒業生代表として答辞を読む、そしてその場に立ち会ったことで、次の世代へと志やスクールプライドが確実に受け継がれていくことを実感することができました。
卒業生の皆さんが、これからそれぞれの道で物事の本質を見極め、人の心に響くものを創り続けていくことを心から期待しています。そして、この美大附で培った努力と誇りが、これからの人生の大きな支えになることを願っています！
明日の未来のクリエーター達、ご卒業、誠におめでとうございます。

I Attended the Graduation Ceremony of Akita Municipal High School of Arts
On Sunday, March 1, 2026, I attended the graduation ceremony of the Akita Municipal High School of Arts as a guest. Each grade at this school has fewer than 30 students, which creates a close and supportive environment. At the same time, the students challenge each other and grow together, almost like teammates who have shared the same journey. This special atmosphere always moves me deeply. This year again, I was very impressed by each graduate’s attitude, their words, and the sincere feeling of the entire ceremony.
One moment that especially stayed in my heart was the congratulatory speech by President Satoru Kitago of Akita University of Art. He said,
“From now on, I hope you will learn to see the true essence of things and create work that touches people’s hearts.”
I felt that these words express the true spirit of being a creator. At the same time, they are not only for students pursuing art, but for everyone. Every year, his words are inspiring, but this year’s message especially felt like a gentle light guiding young people as they step into society.
Over the past three years, the students have worked hard to improve their skills and seriously faced the challenge of creating art. They continued to produce their work while connecting with people outside the school. I feel that this process is almost like personal training that strengthens both skill and character. This effort creates the dignified and powerful atmosphere of the graduation ceremony. I have also been involved with the school as a badminton club coach, and I was deeply moved to see former club members walk proudly as graduates.
I believe that parents and teachers have played a very important role in supporting the students’ journey. The graduation ceremony is a special moment where students express their gratitude, and those who supported them feel pride and joy. Last year, one student gave a farewell message to the graduates, and this year that same student stood as the graduate representative and gave the reply speech. Seeing this, I strongly felt that the school’s spirit and pride are being passed on to the next generation.
I sincerely hope that all graduates will continue to see the true essence of things and create work that touches people’s hearts in their own paths. I also hope that the effort and pride they gained at this school will support them throughout their lives.

Asistí a la ceremonia de graduación de la Escuela Secundaria de Artes de Akita
El domingo 1 de marzo de 2026, asistí como invitado a la ceremonia de graduación de la Escuela Secundaria de Artes de Akita. Cada generación tiene menos de 30 estudiantes, lo que crea un ambiente cercano y familiar. Al mismo tiempo, los estudiantes se motivan entre sí y crecen juntos, como compañeros que han compartido el mismo camino. Esta atmósfera especial siempre me conmueve profundamente. Este año también me impresionaron mucho la actitud de cada graduado, sus palabras y el ambiente sincero de toda la ceremonia.
Un momento que quedó especialmente en mi corazón fue el discurso del presidente Satoru Kitago de la Universidad de Arte de Akita. Él dijo:
“De ahora en adelante, espero que aprendan a ver la verdadera esencia de las cosas y a crear obras que lleguen al corazón de las personas.”
Sentí que estas palabras expresan el verdadero espíritu de ser un creador. Al mismo tiempo, no son solo para quienes estudian arte, sino para todas las personas. Cada año, sus palabras son inspiradoras, pero el mensaje de este año fue como una luz que guía a los jóvenes que están entrando en la sociedad.
Durante los últimos tres años, los estudiantes han trabajado duro para mejorar sus habilidades y enfrentar seriamente el desafío de crear arte. Han continuado creando sus obras mientras se conectaban con personas fuera de la escuela. Siento que este proceso es como un entrenamiento personal que fortalece tanto sus habilidades como su carácter. Este esfuerzo crea el ambiente solemne y fuerte de la ceremonia de graduación. También he participado como entrenador del club de bádminton, y me emocionó mucho ver a los antiguos miembros caminar con orgullo como graduados.
Creo que los padres y los profesores han desempeñado un papel muy importante en apoyar a los estudiantes. La ceremonia de graduación es un momento especial donde los estudiantes expresan su gratitud, y quienes los apoyaron sienten orgullo y alegría. El año pasado, un estudiante dio el mensaje de despedida, y este año ese mismo estudiante dio el discurso como representante de los graduados. Al ver esto, sentí claramente que el espíritu y el orgullo de la escuela se están transmitiendo a la siguiente generación.
Espero sinceramente que todos los graduados continúen viendo la verdadera esencia de las cosas y creando obras que lleguen al corazón de las personas en sus propios caminos. También espero que el esfuerzo y el orgullo que adquirieron en esta escuela los acompañen durante toda su vida.
