新年あけましておめでとうございます。
今年最初の投稿は、日吉八幡神社（ひえはちまんじんじゃ）での歳旦祭（さいたんさい）への参加についてです。
歳旦とは、1月1日の朝のことを指します。歳旦祭は、新しい年の始まりを喜び、皇室の弥栄や国の安泰、そして私たち一人ひとりの幸せや五穀豊穣、世界の平和などを願う大切な神事です。本来は皇居で行われる行事ですが、全国各地の神社でも、新年の恒例行事として行われています。私も、日吉八幡神社で行われた歳旦祭に参列してきました。
神事の後には、獅子舞が披露されました。獅子舞は、東アジアから東南アジアに広く見られる伝統芸能で、日本では「獅子に頭を噛んでもらう」風習があります。これは、邪気を食べてもらい、厄を払い、1年を元気に幸せに過ごせるよう願うものだそうです。私も新年早々、しっかりと噛んでもらいました。
日吉八幡神社は、秋田市役所のすぐ近くにあり、旭川以西の商人町として栄えた外町の総鎮守として、長い歴史を持つ神社です。ご縁があってさまざまな行事に参加させていただいていますが、こうした機会は、日本人として日本の信仰や文化を改めて見つめ直す良い時間だと感じています。
本年も、地域に根ざし、皆さんの声を大切にしながら、一歩ずつ前に進んでいきたいと思います。どうぞよろしくお願いいたします。

Happy New Year!
This is my first post of the year, and I would like to share that I attended the New Year morning ceremony at Hie Hachiman Shrine.
“Saitan” means the morning of January 1st. The Saitan Ceremony is a traditional Shinto event to welcome the new year and pray for the peace of the country, the happiness of the people, good harvests, and world peace. The original ceremony is held at the Imperial Palace, but many shrines across Japan hold the same ceremony at the start of the year. I joined the ceremony held at Hie Hachiman Shrine.
After the ceremony, there was a lion dance. The lion dance is a traditional performance seen in East and Southeast Asia. In Japan, there is a custom where the lion gently bites people’s heads. This is believed to remove bad luck and bring good health and happiness for the year. I also received the lion’s bite and felt ready for a good year.
Hie Hachiman Shrine is located near Akita City Hall and has long been the main shrine for the Sotomachi area, which was once a town of merchants. I am grateful to take part in these events, and each time, I feel it is a good chance to think again about Japanese traditions and beliefs.
This year as well, I will continue to work step by step for our community, listening carefully to your voices. Thank you for your continued support.

¡Feliz Año Nuevo!
Este es mi primer mensaje del año y quisiera compartir que participé en la ceremonia de Año Nuevo en el Santuario Hie Hachiman.
“Saitan” se refiere a la mañana del 1 de enero. La Ceremonia Saitan es un ritual tradicional para dar la bienvenida al nuevo año y pedir por la paz del país, la felicidad de las personas, buenas cosechas y la paz mundial. Originalmente se realiza en el Palacio Imperial, pero muchos santuarios en todo Japón celebran esta ceremonia al inicio del año. Yo participé en la ceremonia realizada en el Santuario Hie Hachiman.
Después de la ceremonia, se presentó una danza del león. La danza del león es una tradición que se ve en Asia Oriental y Sudeste Asiático. En Japón, existe la costumbre de que el león muerda suavemente la cabeza de las personas. Se cree que esto elimina la mala suerte y trae salud y felicidad para el año. Yo también recibí la mordida del león y sentí un buen comienzo de año.
El Santuario Hie Hachiman está ubicado cerca del Ayuntamiento de la Ciudad de Akita y ha sido durante mucho tiempo el santuario principal de la zona de Sotomachi, que antes era un barrio de comerciantes. Agradezco poder participar en estos eventos, ya que me dan la oportunidad de reflexionar nuevamente sobre la cultura y las creencias de Japón.
