2025年7月5日、18時から日吉八幡神社において「第11回七夕祭」が開催され、神事に参加した後に境内での竿燈奉納を見てきました。
地域の子どもたちによる願い事の短冊奉納もあり、地域のお祭りと神社を支える人々の尽力を強く感じました。神社行事を通じ、地域の絆がさらに育まれることを願うばかりです。
毎年感じるのですが、日吉八幡神社での竿燈が、きっと昔からやっているスタイルであり、オリジナルなのだろう、と。ここに秋田市の人々の本質があるような気がします。もちろん8月の竿燈は、壮大さやダイナミックさでは見る人を圧倒する凄さがあるため、観光として最高の行事だと思います。ただ、秋田に長く住むのであれば、日吉八幡神社での七夕竿燈をご覧になっていただきたいものです。

250705 – Attended the 11th Hiehachiman Shrine Tanabata Festival
On July 5, 2025, from 6:00 p.m., the 11th Tanabata Festival was held at Hiehachiman Shrine. I joined the Shinto ceremony and then watched the Kanto (pole lantern) performance offered in the shrine grounds.
There was also a display of tanzaku—small papers with wishes—written by local children. It made me feel deeply thankful for the people who work so hard to keep this local festival and shrine traditions alive. I truly hope that events like this help strengthen the bonds in our community.
Every year, I feel that the Kanto performance at Hiehachiman Shrine must be the original, traditional way it was done long ago. It seems to show the true spirit of the people of Akita City. Of course, the large-scale Kanto Festival held in August is amazing—it’s powerful and impressive, and it’s perfect as a tourist event. But if you really want to understand what Akita is about, I hope you’ll also come and see the more personal and heartfelt Tanabata Kanto at Hiehachiman Shrine.

250705 – Participé en el 11.º Festival de Tanabata del Santuario Hiehachiman
El 5 de julio de 2025, a partir de las 6:00 p.m., se celebró el 11.º Festival de Tanabata en el Santuario Hiehachiman. Participé en la ceremonia sintoísta y luego vi la presentación de Kanto (faroles en postes) dentro del recinto del santuario.
También se ofrecieron tanzaku (papeles con deseos escritos) por parte de los niños del barrio. Me hizo sentir un gran respeto y gratitud hacia las personas que mantienen vivo este festival local y las tradiciones del santuario. Ojalá que eventos como este sigan fortaleciendo los lazos de nuestra comunidad.
Cada año tengo la misma sensación: el Kanto del Santuario Hiehachiman debe ser la forma original y tradicional, como se hacía desde hace mucho tiempo. Siento que ahí se refleja el verdadero espíritu de la gente de la ciudad de Akita.
Por supuesto, el gran Festival de Kanto que se celebra en agosto es impresionante por su tamaño y energía, y es excelente como evento turístico. Pero si uno quiere conocer el alma auténtica de Akita, recomiendo de corazón venir a ver el Kanto de Tanabata en el Santuario Hiehachiman.
