2025年6月7日、勝平地区の鹿嶋祭りに参加しました。今年は、祭りの最後に川へ流す舟の制作から関わりました。「がづき」と呼ばれる真菰（まこも）を束ねて舟の形にし、当日の朝に飾り付けを行いました。
鹿嶋祭りは地元神社の例祭として伝統が受け継がれており、地域の交流の場にもなっています。祭りを支える住民の姿から、地域の力強さと温かさを感じる一方で、少子化による参加者減や担い手の高齢化といった課題も見えました。

On June 7, 2025, I took part in the Kashima Festival in the Katsuhira area.
This year, I joined from the stage of building the boat that is floated down the river at the end of the festival. We bundled “gazuki” (a local name for the plant makomo) to form the boat, then decorated it on the morning of the event.
The Kashima Festival is a traditional local event connected to the neighborhood shrine and serves as a valuable opportunity for community bonding. While I was moved by the strength and warmth of local residents who sustain the festival, I also sensed challenges such as a decline in participants due to the falling birthrate and the aging of festival organizers.

El 7 de junio de 2025, participé en el Festival de Kashima en la zona de Katsuhira.
Este año, tuve el honor de colaborar desde la preparación del barco que se deja flotar en el río al final del festival. Atamos plantas llamadas “gazuki” (nombre local del makomo) para formar el barco, y lo decoramos en la mañana del evento.
El Festival de Kashima es una celebración tradicional vinculada al santuario del barrio, y funciona como un espacio importante para fortalecer los lazos comunitarios. Al ver a las personas que mantienen viva esta tradición, sentí profundamente la fuerza y calidez de la comunidad, aunque también noté preocupaciones como la disminución de participantes por la baja natalidad y el envejecimiento de quienes organizan el evento.
