保護司になってから、朝の挨拶運動と自転車の盗難防止のツーロック（鍵を2つ付けること）の呼びかけを同じ地区の保護司や様々な団体と一緒に定期的に行っています。場所は新屋駅前で、4月から10月まで隔月の26日に行っています。私は、社会を明るくする運動、というベストを着て、ツーロックのチラシやポケットティッシュを渡して挨拶しながら、盗難防止の啓発も手伝っています。新屋高校の生徒会の子たちも参加してくれて毎回賑やかになります。
新屋駅前は、通学で新屋高校バドミントン部の知っている子や、友人の娘さんが通るので、去年から挨拶するのを楽しんでいますが、自分の知っている子が通らなくなったら少し寂しいかもしれません。先日初めて知ったのが、この声かけを隔月26日に行う理由は、ツー（2）ロック（6）とかけているからということです笑
余談ですが、「キーロック」を秋田弁で訛りをマックスで発音すると「ツーロック」と聞こえるので、自分が大学生くらいの時に初めて「ツーロック」という言葉を目にしたときは、秋田オリジナルの防犯運動なのかと思っていました笑

April 26, 2025 – Morning Greeting Campaign
Since I became a volunteer probation officer, I’ve been taking part in morning greeting activities and promoting the use of “two locks” on bicycles to prevent theft. I do this regularly with other volunteer officers and local groups in our area. We do it in front of Araya Station, every other month on the 26th, from April to October.
I wear a vest that says “Let’s Make Our Community Bright” and hand out flyers and pocket tissues while saying good morning and reminding students about locking their bikes. Members of the Araya High School student council also join us, so it’s always a fun and cheerful time.
Many students I know pass by the station — like members of the Araya High School badminton team or my friend’s daughter — so I enjoy greeting them. But I might feel a bit lonely if those familiar faces stop coming by.
By the way, I just learned something funny: we do this campaign on the 26th because “2” sounds like “two” and “6” sounds like “lock” — so together it’s “two-lock”! That’s a great pun.
Also, when I was a university student, I thought “two-lock” was an original Akita word because when we say “key lock” in a strong Akita accent, it sounds just like “two-lock” — that made me laugh when I found out the truth!

26 de abril de 2025 – Campaña de saludos en la mañana
Desde que me convertí en oficial voluntario de libertad condicional, he estado participando en actividades de saludo por la mañana y también en campañas para promover el uso de “dos candados” en las bicicletas, para evitar robos. Lo hacemos regularmente junto con otros voluntarios y grupos locales en nuestra zona. La actividad se realiza frente a la estación Araya, cada dos meses, el día 26, desde abril hasta octubre.
Uso un chaleco que dice “Hagamos una comunidad más alegre” y reparto volantes y pañuelos de bolsillo mientras saludo a los estudiantes y les recuerdo la importancia de ponerle dos candados a sus bicicletas. También participan estudiantes del consejo estudiantil del colegio Araya, así que siempre hay un buen ambiente.
Muchos estudiantes que conozco pasan por ahí, como los del equipo de bádminton del colegio Araya o la hija de una amiga. Me gusta saludarlos, pero puede que me dé un poco de tristeza si dejan de pasar.
Por cierto, hace poco descubrí algo curioso: hacemos esta actividad el día 26 porque “2” se pronuncia “two” y “6” suena como “lock” en inglés, así que juntos suena como “two-lock” (dos candados). ¡Muy ingenioso!
Además, cuando era universitario, pensaba que “two-lock” era una palabra original de Akita, porque cuando se dice “key lock” con un acento fuerte de Akita, suena igual que “two-lock”. Me dio mucha risa cuando descubrí la verdad.
