本日2024年9月7日のさきがけ新聞の社会面に掲載されていた「クマの目撃」情報（県警・市町村調べ）ですが、『5日午後5時ごろ、新屋町字割山の旧秋田空港跡地付近の県道。体長１メートル。勝平中学校まで600メートル。』と、勝平地区でのクマの目撃がありました。

おそらくこの個体は、下浜〜国見山〜新屋の防砂林沿いに北上〜雄物川を渡河、と移動してきたのではなく、2024年6月12日に、秋田市新屋の陸上自衛隊新屋演習場敷地内で、訓練中の陸自秋田駐屯地の隊員が目撃した体長約６０センチのクマではないだろうかと思っています。

松林を主とした場所は、クマの主食となる食べ物が乏しく、生息できないだろう、という専門家の予測がありましたが、もし、この個体が新たに移動してきた個体でないとすれば、この3ヶ月間は民家付近まで出てくることなく松林の中で生息していたと考えられます。この一帯で何を食べて生きていたのかは今後の調査が必要だと思いますが、3ヶ月間生き延びて、しかも成長しています。

災害時の人命救助用ドローン（サーマルカメラ付き）を使って、「訓練」もしくは「実証実験」としてクマもしくは野生動物の居場所特定を、勝平の旧空港跡地周辺で行うことを、秋田市の農地森林整備課と消防本部とに話を持ちかけましたが、現在まで何の反応もありません。
勝平地区は、2023年10月に男女４人がクマに襲撃されておりますので、もう少し強く交渉し実施を検討してもらいたい思っています。

Bear Sighting in Katsuhira District
In today’s September 7, 2024, issue of the Sakigake Newspaper, there was information in the social section about a bear sighting (according to the prefectural police and municipalities). The report states: “On the 5th, around 5:00 PM, near the former Akita Airport site along the prefectural road in Araya-machi, Wariyama. The bear was 1 meter in length, and the sighting was about 600 meters from Katsuhira Junior High School.”

I suspect that this bear, rather than having migrated north along the coastal forest from Shimohama through Kunimiyama to Araya and crossing the Omono River, is likely the same bear, about 60 cm in length, that was sighted on June 12, 2024, by members of the Ground Self-Defense Forces in the training area of Akita’s Araya Base. Experts had predicted that the coastal pine forests, which are lacking in food resources, would not be a viable habitat for bears. However, if this bear is not a new arrival, it suggests that the bear has been surviving in these forests for the past three months without coming near residential areas. It will be necessary to investigate what it has been eating during this period, but it has managed to survive and even grow.
In previous cases, like the one in Semboku City, there were efforts using disaster relief drones equipped with thermal cameras to locate bears or other wildlife as part of a “training” or “demonstration experiment.” I have proposed to the Akita City Agricultural and Forest Maintenance Division and the Fire Department that they carry out a similar operation in the vicinity of the former airport site in Katsuhira. Unfortunately, there has been no response so far.

Avistamiento de oso en el distrito de Katsuhira
En la edición de hoy, 7 de septiembre de 2024, del periódico Sakigake, se publicó información sobre un avistamiento de oso en la sección de sociedad (según la policía prefectural y los municipios). El informe dice: “El 5 de septiembre, alrededor de las 5:00 PM, cerca del antiguo sitio del Aeropuerto de Akita a lo largo de la carretera prefectural en Araya-machi, Wariyama.
