「あきび」の愛称で親しまれている秋田公立美術大学の卒業式に来賓で参加してきました。あきびの設立準備室時代から関わった市の職員の方（今年で役職定年になったくらいのレベルの方）からとある機会にお話を伺ったところ、美術系の大学は10年経つと様々な方面で活躍するようになってくる、と力説しており、まさに今はその時ではないかと感じています。
VOCA（ヴォーカ）展と呼ばれる全国の美術館学芸員、研究者などに40歳以下の若手作家の推薦を依頼し、その作家が平面作品の新作を出品するという方法により、毎年全国各地から未知の優れた才能を紹介している現代美術展において、この４年間で県関係者３人がＶＯＣＡ賞に選ばれており、今年のグランプリのＶＯＣＡ賞に秋田市の大東忍さん（３０）＝愛知県出身、秋田公立美術大大学院助手、昨年は秋田公立美術大卒業生の画家永沢碧衣さん（横手市）が選ばれて受賞しています。
卒業生の皆さんが個性豊かな衣装で登壇して卒業証書を受け取っている様子を拝見して、そのこだわりというかそのスタイルはさすが美大生、全て手作りの衣装だったりテーマがあったりと、見ていてとても楽しかったですし、卒業生の謝辞も素晴らしかったです。
また、卒業研究の優秀作品の受賞者の表彰もあり、その中でさすがだなぁと思った作品は、秋田県立美術館館長賞を受賞した「おちんぽくん」です！
受賞作品の紹介のところには以下のように記載されています。
「受賞者：おちんぽくんスタッフOchinpokun staff（ビジュアルアーツ専攻）
なぜ多くの人が、この作品のタイトルを公で口にすることを躇するのか。
この疑問に対して、”おちんぽくん”は、その存在自体で社会の潜在的規範に挑戦する。作者はこの可愛くも挑発的なキャラクターを通じて、展示や販売、SNS上で一連の試みを実施し、性的表現のタブー、下ネタの文化、自己検閲に対する問いを提起する。これらの社会実験は、男性性器とその表象に関する既成概念や忌避感を明るみに出した。既存の表現活動の枠を拡張し、新しい芸術領域に挑んだ作品である。」
作品集の記載を読んですごいなと思ったのですが、受賞者に登壇した方（おそらく中心となった方）が女性でしたので、なお一層リスペクトの念が増しました。
素晴らしい！
美大附属学院の卒業式でも同じことを感じましたが、美大学長の告辞もまた素敵でした。「卒業おめでとう。皆さんは一生死ぬまで研究を続けてください。それを作者魂とも言うのです」と。卒業したことは学生生活の終わりであると同時に長い作家人生のスタートであることを意識させる言葉でした。生徒さんも先生方も本当に素敵でした。

I attended the graduation and graduate school completion ceremony of Akita University of the Arts! I participated as a guest in the graduation ceremony of Akita University of the Arts, affectionately known as “Akibi.” When I heard from a municipal employee with whom I had been involved since the establishment of Akibi’s preparatory office, they emphasized that art universities become active in various fields after ten years. Indeed, I feel that now is the time. Over the past four years, three individuals from the prefecture have been awarded the VOCA Prize at the contemporary art exhibition, which introduces outstanding talents from all over the country through a method called VOCA (Voca) Exhibition. This year’s Grand Prix VOCA Prize winner is Ms. Shinobu Daito (30) from Akita City, a graduate assistant at Akita University of the Arts Graduate School, and last year’s winner was Ms. Aoi Nagasawa, a painter and graduate of Akita University of the Arts (from Yokote City).
I had the pleasure of watching the graduates receive their diplomas while dressed in unique and meticulously crafted outfits, which truly reflected the style of art university students. Their dedication and style were delightful to witness, with all costumes being handmade and having specific themes. The graduates’ speeches were also remarkable.
Additionally, there was an award ceremony for outstanding graduation research projects, and among them, the work that truly stood out was “Ochinpokun,” which won the Akita Prefectural Art Museum Director’s Award!
The introduction of the winning piece reads as follows:
“Recipient: Ochinpokun staff (Visual Arts Major)
Why do many people hesitate to publicly mention the title of this work?
In response to this question, “Ochinpokun” challenges societal norms simply by its existence. The creator conducts a series of experiments through exhibitions, sales, and attempts on social media using this cute yet provocative character, raising questions about taboos on sexual expression, vulgar humor culture, and self-censorship. These social experiments have brought to light preconceptions and aversion regarding male genitalia and its representation, expanding the boundaries of existing artistic expression and venturing into new artistic territories.”
Upon reading the description of the work, I was impressed, and my respect for the person who appeared on stage as the recipient (presumably the central figure) increased even more because she was a woman.
Wonderful! I also felt the same at the graduation ceremony of the affiliated school of Akita University of the Arts, where the president’s speech was also lovely. “Congratulations on your graduation. Please continue your research for the rest of your life. We also call it the spirit of the author,” they said. It was a statement that made graduates realize that graduation marks not only the end of student life but also the start of a long artistic journey. Both the students and teachers were truly wonderful. I look forward to seeing everyone succeed in the world!

¡Asistí a la ceremonia de graduación y finalización de la escuela de posgrado de la Universidad de Artes de Akita! Participé como invitado en la ceremonia de graduación de la Universidad de Artes de Akita, cariñosamente conocida como “Akibi”. Cuando escuché de un empleado municipal con quien había estado involucrado desde el establecimiento de la oficina preparatoria de Akibi, enfatizaron que las universidades de arte se vuelven activas en diversos campos después de diez años. De hecho, siento que ahora es el momento. En los últimos cuatro años, tres personas de la prefectura han sido galardonadas con el Premio VOCA en la exposición de arte contemporáneo, que presenta talentos destacados de todo el país a través de un método llamado Exposición VOCA (Voca). Tuve el placer de ver a los graduados recibir sus diplomas mientras lucían trajes únicos y meticulosamente elaborados, que realmente reflejaban el estilo de los estudiantes universitarios de arte. Su dedicación y estilo fueron un deleite de presenciar, con todos los trajes siendo hechos a mano y teniendo temas específicos. Los discursos de los graduados también fueron notables.
Además, hubo una ceremonia de premiación para destacados proyectos de investigación de graduación, y entre ellos, el trabajo que realmente destacó fue “Ochinpokun”, que ganó el Premio del Director del Museo de Arte Prefectural de Akita.
La introducción de la obra ganadora dice lo siguiente:

¿Por qué muchas personas dudan en mencionar públicamente el título de esta obra?
En respuesta a esta pregunta, “Ochinpokun” desafía las normas sociales simplemente por su existencia. El creador lleva a cabo una serie de experimentos a través de exposiciones, ventas e intentos en redes sociales utilizando este personaje lindo pero provocativo, planteando preguntas sobre tabúes en la expresión sexual, la cultura del humor vulgar y la autocensura. Estos experimentos sociales han sacado a la luz prejuicios y aversiones con respecto a los genitales masculinos y su representación, expandiendo los límites de la expresión artística existente y aventurándose en nuevos territorios artísticos”.
Al leer la descripción de la obra, quedé impresionado, y mi respeto por la persona que apareció en el escenario como la receptora (presumiblemente la figura central) aumentó aún más porque era una mujer.
¡Maravilloso! También sentí lo mismo en la ceremonia de graduación de la escuela afiliada de la Universidad de Artes de Akita, donde el discurso del presidente también fue encantador. “Felicitaciones por su graduación. Por favor, continúen su investigación por el resto de sus vidas. También lo llamamos el espíritu del autor”, dijeron. Fue una declaración que hizo que los graduados se dieran cuenta de que la graduación no solo marca el final de la vida estudiantil, sino también el comienzo de un largo viaje artístico. Tanto los estudiantes como los profesores fueron realmente maravillosos. ¡Espero ver a todos tener éxito en el mundo!
