秋田ユネスコ協会が主催して、多様な地域の人びととの連携・交流や、ユネスコ活動の重要なテーマである国際理解・国際協力への関心を深めるために、高校生を対象として、主に地域の問題を解決するための国際理解・国際協力の現場で使われている問題解決型ワークショップセミナーを行いました。
私は、秋田ユネスコ協会のユネスコスクール担当理事ですので、このセミナーのほかに、ユネスコスクールの1つである秋田市立秋田商業高等学校に3年前から、エコロジカルビジネスという授業の国際理解班を秋田市職員の太田直さんと二人三脚で受け持って、ワークショップを教えてきました。今年度も4月から10月まで週1回のペースで授業を行い、最終日であるこのユネスコSDGsユースセミナーの日のために、高校生が取り組む持続可能な社会づくりを、国際理解・国際協力の視点から生徒さんと一緒に考えてきました。
午前中は、田市立秋田商業高等学校のビジネス実践であるAKISHOPが秋田駅前〜アゴラ広場周辺・大屋根下で開催されていましたので、そこでダイレクトトレードを秋田で行っているアフリカのコーヒーを紹介して試飲・募金を募る活動を行いました。コーヒーの抽出も生徒さんに指導しましたが、つきっきりでコーヒーの抽出をサポートして、そのまま走って午後の会場に向かい、午後からユネスコSDGsユースセミナーを行いました。
結果、午後のユネスコSDGsユースセミナーの内容はとても充実して、中身の濃いセミナーになりました。参加した高校生は、皆さん活き活きと意見を出しあって問題解決のワークショップに取り組み、たくさんの意見を出しては話し合っており、本当に嬉しかったです。様子を見にきてくださった秋田ユネスコ協会の会長・副会長、会員の皆様からは余りあるお褒めの言葉をいただき、これまで指導してきた私と太田さんはとても嬉しい気持ちでした。終わった後は、ほっとしたと同時に、秋田商業の生徒さんたちちはこの濃い半年がこれで終わりか、と思うと急に寂しくなりました。自分の子どもと言っても過言じゃないくらい可愛がっていたのだと思います。
ちなみに、18時過ぎに帰宅して気を抜いたら足から始まって全身がつって本当にビックリしました。考えてみたら朝7時にご飯を食べてから飲食一切なくトイレだけは何度も行ったので脱水症状だったことに気がつきました笑 それくらい集中していたのだと思います。

October 18, 2025 – UNESCO SDGs Youth Seminar organized by Akita UNESCO Association
The Akita UNESCO Association held a UNESCO SDGs Youth Seminar for high school students. The goal was to help young people learn more about international understanding and cooperation, which are key themes of UNESCO, and to give them hands-on experience with problem-solving workshops used in real international cooperation projects.
As the board member in charge of UNESCO Schools at the Akita UNESCO Association, I helped organize this event. For the past three years, I have also been teaching the International Understanding Group in the “Ecological Business” class at Akita Commercial High School, which is one of the UNESCO Schools. I teach this class together with Mr. Sunao Ota, an Akita City official. From April to October this year, we held weekly classes, and the students prepared for this Youth Seminar as their final project — exploring how to build a sustainable society from an international perspective.
In the morning, Akita Commercial High School held its student-run business event, AKISHOP, near Akita Station and Agora Square. There, students introduced and offered tastings of African coffee that is traded directly (direct trade) in Akita, while also collecting donations. I helped the students brew the coffee, then ran straight to the afternoon venue to start the UNESCO SDGs Youth Seminar.
The seminar went wonderfully. It was full of energy and deep discussions. The students actively shared opinions and worked together on the problem-solving workshops. I was truly moved by their enthusiasm. The president, vice president, and other members of the Akita UNESCO Association who came to observe praised the students highly, and both Mr. Ota and I were very happy and proud.
After the event, I felt both relieved and a bit sad, realizing that the six months of classes with these students had come to an end. They had become so dear to me — almost like my own children.
By the way, after getting home around 6 p.m., my legs suddenly cramped up and then my whole body! I realized I hadn’t eaten or drunk anything since breakfast at 7 a.m. — except for going to the bathroom several times — so I was clearly dehydrated! (laughs) That’s how focused I was all day.

18 de octubre de 2025 – Seminario Juvenil UNESCO-SDGs organizado por la Asociación UNESCO de Akita
La Asociación UNESCO de Akita organizó un Seminario Juvenil UNESCO-SDGs dirigido a estudiantes de secundaria. El objetivo fue ayudarles a comprender mejor la cooperación y el entendimiento internacional, temas fundamentales de la UNESCO, y vivir una experiencia práctica con talleres de resolución de problemas que se utilizan en proyectos reales de cooperación internacional.
Como miembro de la junta responsable de las Escuelas UNESCO en la Asociación UNESCO de Akita, participé en la organización del evento. Desde hace tres años también enseño el grupo de Comprensión Internacional en la clase de “Negocios Ecológicos” del Colegio Comercial de Akita, una Escuela UNESCO. Imparto esas clases junto con el señor Sunao Ota, funcionario de la Municipalidad de Akita. Desde abril hasta octubre de este año dimos clases una vez por semana, y los estudiantes se prepararon para este seminario como su proyecto final, reflexionando sobre cómo construir una sociedad sostenible desde una visión internacional.
En la mañana, el Colegio Comercial de Akita realizó su feria estudiantil AKISHOP, cerca de la estación de Akita y la plaza Ágora. Allí, los estudiantes presentaron y ofrecieron degustaciones de café africano que se comercializa en Akita mediante comercio directo (direct trade), además de recolectar donaciones. Yo les ayudé con la preparación del café y luego corrí directamente al lugar del seminario, que se llevó a cabo en la tarde.
El seminario fue excelente. Hubo mucha energía y discusiones muy profundas. Los estudiantes compartieron ideas con entusiasmo y trabajaron juntos en los talleres de resolución de problemas. Me sentí muy feliz al verlos tan activos. El presidente, la vicepresidenta y los miembros de la Asociación UNESCO de Akita que asistieron nos felicitaron mucho, y tanto el señor Ota como yo nos sentimos muy orgullosos y agradecidos.
Después del evento sentí alivio, pero también algo de tristeza al darme cuenta de que estos seis meses de clases con los estudiantes habían terminado. Les tengo tanto cariño que podría decir que son casi como mis propios hijos.
Por cierto, cuando llegué a casa alrededor de las seis de la tarde, me empezaron a dar calambres desde los pies hasta todo el cuerpo. Luego me di cuenta de que no había comido ni bebido nada desde las siete de la mañana (solo fui varias veces al baño). Me dio risa al pensar que estaba deshidratado, ¡así de concentrado estaba todo el día! (risas)
