2025年（令和7年）10月11日（土）に、秋田市西部市民サービスセンター（ウェスター）で行われたウェスターまつりのオープニングセレモニーに出席し、テープカットをしてきました。これまでに何度も出席依頼が来ておりましたが、都合がつかず出席できなかったため、とても楽しみにしておりました。しかしこれまでに出席したことがなかったもので、当日に何をするか全くわからないまま集合場所に行ったところ、なんとテープカットをするとのこと。他の議員の方は当然知っていたことでしょうけれど私だけ若干挙動不審でオタオタしてました笑
無事にテープカットをした後には、館内の秋田市西部市民サービスセンター（ウェスター）のサークルの方の作品展示を見たり、新屋の物産品を買ったり、お抹茶をいただいたりして楽しみました。
展示作品で印象的だったのは、写真のサークルや切り絵のサークルで、中にはセミプロのような作品もあり驚きました。趣味の世界も、ネットの普及により、自身のスキルを上げる方法についての情報が溢れる時代になってきたなぁと思いながら、作品を見てまわりました。女性の参加者が多く、こういった趣味やサークルなどの集まりに足繁く通う方は社交性の高い女性が中心なんだなと感じました。男性が集まりやすい社交場についても今後考えていく必要があるなぁと感じました。

October 11, 2025 – Attended the Opening Ceremony of the Wester Festival
On Saturday, October 11, 2025, I attended the opening ceremony of the Wester Festival, held at the Akita City Western Citizen Service Center (Wester), and joined the ribbon-cutting event.
I had received invitations several times before, but I couldn’t attend due to schedule conflicts. So, this year, I was really looking forward to it!
However, since it was my first time attending, I honestly didn’t know what I was supposed to do. When I arrived at the meeting place, I was surprised to find out that I would be cutting the ribbon! The other council members probably knew that already, but I was the only one who looked a little nervous and confused. (I must have looked funny!)
After the ribbon-cutting went smoothly, I enjoyed walking around the venue. I saw the art exhibitions by local hobby circles at the Wester Center, bought some local products from Araya, and enjoyed a cup of matcha (green tea).
The most impressive exhibits were from the photography and paper-cutting art circles. Some works looked almost professional!
While looking at them, I thought about how, thanks to the internet, people today can easily find ways to improve their skills, even in hobbies.
I also noticed that most of the participants were women. I felt that these kinds of creative circles attract many outgoing and social women. It made me think that we should also consider creating more social spaces that men can feel comfortable joining.

11 de octubre de 2025 – Asistí a la ceremonia de apertura del Festival Wester
El sábado 11 de octubre de 2025 asistí a la ceremonia de apertura del Festival Wester, que se realizó en el Centro de Servicios Ciudadanos del Oeste de Akita (Wester), y participé en el corte de cinta.
Ya había recibido invitaciones en otras ocasiones, pero no pude asistir por temas de agenda, así que esta vez estaba muy ilusionado.
Sin embargo, como era mi primera vez, no sabía exactamente qué debía hacer. Cuando llegué al lugar de reunión, me sorprendió enterarme de que me tocaba cortar la cinta. Seguramente los otros regidores ya lo sabían, pero yo estaba un poco nervioso y confundido (jajaja).
Después del corte de cinta, disfruté mucho recorriendo el lugar. Observé las exposiciones de arte hechas por los grupos y círculos del Centro Wester, compré algunos productos locales de Araya, y tomé una taza de té verde (matcha).
Las obras que más me impresionaron fueron las de los círculos de fotografía y de arte en papel recortado. Algunas parecían hechas por profesionales.
Mientras las observaba, pensé que hoy en día, gracias al internet, hay muchísima información sobre cómo mejorar las habilidades personales, incluso en los pasatiempos.
También noté que la mayoría de los participantes eran mujeres. Sentí que estos espacios de arte y convivencia atraen sobre todo a mujeres con mucha sociabilidad. Me hizo pensar que sería bueno crear, en el futuro, más lugares donde los hombres también se sientan cómodos participando.
