令和7年4月9日（水）、晴れのよき日に秋田公立美術大学附属高等学院の入学式に来賓で参加してきました。昨年度も同様の言葉に感動しましたが、秋田公立美術大学の北郷学長は「秋田県鹿角市にある4,000年前の縄文時代の環状列石の遺跡では、アルカリ土壌のためか、人骨は分解してしまって出てこないが、漆塗りの櫛や箱が見つかっている。日本の伝統工芸である漆塗りの技術やオシャレを楽しんでいた気持ちは4,000年の時間を超えることができた。それらの出土品はおそらくお墓に入れたものだったろうから、とても大切にしていたものなのでしょうね」と話され、今年も感動しました。
はるか昔、縄文時代の祖先の美術や工芸に対するスピリットを感じさせ、さらに過去と現在が結びつき、そして未来へと想いを馳せることができました。美術や工芸を目指す新入生への歓迎の言葉としてこんな素敵な言葉はないと思いました。
新入生代表の子は、「学校見学に来て、校内に飾られている先輩達の作品に感動した。それから今までやったことのなかったデッサンを始め、美大附を目指して頑張ってきた。この場に立てることがとても嬉しい。」と、昨年の新入生代表の子と同じような挨拶に驚きました。「そうか、美大附は、人生において義務教育を終え、初めて美術の道へ踏み出した者だけがたどり着く場所なんだ！」と気がつきました。しかもその子は、秋田市内ではない学校の出身でしたので、強い決意の上に、様々な決断をしてここに立っているんだなと思うと、感動もひとしおでした。また、「ご来賓の皆様には、在学中にお世話になるかもしれませんので、その際はどうぞよろしくお願いいたします。」との内容にもしっかりしているな〜と感動し、美大附の益々のファンになっていくのでした笑

Entrance Ceremony at Akita Municipal Junior College of Arts High School
On Wednesday, April 9, I had the honor of attending the entrance ceremony of the Akita Municipal Junior College of Arts High School as a guest. The weather was beautiful.
Just like last year, I was very moved by the words of President Kitago of Akita University of Art. He said, “At a Jomon-period stone circle site in Kazuno City, Akita Prefecture, even though human bones were gone—maybe because of the soil—combs and boxes with lacquer were found. The technique and love for lacquerware, a traditional Japanese craft, traveled 4,000 years to reach us. Those items were probably placed in graves, so they must have been very special.” His message really touched me again this year.
It made me feel the spirit of our ancestors who lived in the Jomon period. I felt connected to the past, and it gave me hope for the future. These were perfect words to welcome new students who will study art and crafts.
The student who gave the welcome speech said, “When I visited the school, I was amazed by the art made by the older students. That inspired me to start drawing, even though I had never done it before. I worked hard to get into this school, and I’m so happy to be here.” I was surprised because it was very similar to the speech from last year’s student representative.
Then I realized—this school is a special place where students take their first real step into the world of art after finishing compulsory education. This student was not even from Akita City, so I felt the strong determination and choices she made to be here. It moved me deeply.
The student also said, “To the guests here today—during my time at this school, I may receive help from you. When that happens, please take care of me.” I thought, “Wow, how polite and thoughtful!” and became an even bigger fan of this school!

Ceremonia de ingreso en la Escuela Secundaria Anexa a la Universidad Municipal de Artes de Akita
El miércoles 9 de abril, tuve el honor de asistir como invitado a la ceremonia de ingreso de la Escuela Secundaria Anexa a la Universidad Municipal de Artes de Akita. El clima estuvo precioso.
Al igual que el año pasado, me emocionaron mucho las palabras del rector Kitago de la Universidad de Artes de Akita. Dijo: “En un sitio arqueológico del período Jomon en la ciudad de Kazuno, en la prefectura de Akita, no se encontraron huesos humanos—quizás por el tipo de suelo—pero sí aparecieron peines y cajas con laca. Esa técnica y el amor por la laca, una artesanía tradicional japonesa, viajaron 4,000 años hasta nosotros. Esas piezas probablemente estaban en tumbas, así que debieron ser muy valiosas.” Sus palabras me tocaron el corazón otra vez este año.
Sentí el espíritu artístico de nuestros antepasados del período Jomon. Me hizo sentir conectado con el pasado, y también pensar en el futuro con esperanza. Fue un mensaje perfecto para dar la bienvenida a los nuevos estudiantes que quieren dedicarse al arte y a la artesanía.
La estudiante que dio el discurso dijo: “Cuando visité la escuela, me emocioné mucho con las obras de arte hechas por los estudiantes mayores. Eso me inspiró a comenzar a dibujar, aunque nunca lo había hecho antes. Trabajé duro para entrar aquí, y me siento muy feliz de estar en este lugar.” Me sorprendió porque el mensaje fue muy parecido al del año pasado.
Entonces pensé: esta escuela es un lugar muy especial. Es donde, después de terminar la educación obligatoria, los estudiantes dan su primer paso real hacia el mundo del arte. Además, esa estudiante venía de otra ciudad, no de Akita, así que pensé en todas las decisiones valientes que tuvo que tomar. Me emocionó mucho.
También dijo: “A los invitados que nos acompañan hoy: tal vez durante mi tiempo en esta escuela necesite de su apoyo. Si eso pasa, por favor cuenten conmigo y ayúdenme.” ¡Pensé que era muy amable y educada! Y así me hice aún más fan de esta escuela.
