昨年初めて日吉八幡神社七夕祭に参加して、神社の境内でたくさんの竿燈を上げるというすごい光景を見てとても感動しましたので、今年もとても楽しみにしていました。
最初に小若の演技から始まり大若の演技と続きます。当然神社の境内には樹高の高い木が生えていますので、竿燈を上げられる空間は限られとても狭いため、差し手と呼ばれる竿燈を上げる人は各町内のエース級の人が多く、竿燈がひしめき合っている様子はかなり珍しいと思います。また、神社本殿をバックにした竿燈は写真映えしました。もっと有名になってもいい行事だと思いますので来年はもっと友人を誘って行こうと思いました。

The 10th Hie Hachiman Shrine Tanabata Festival
Last year, I attended the Hie Hachiman Shrine Tanabata Festival for the first time. I was deeply moved by the incredible sight of numerous “kanto” lanterns being lifted in the shrine grounds. This year, I was eagerly looking forward to it again.
The festival begins with performances by the young “kowaka” performers and continues with the “owaka” performers. Naturally, there are tall trees within the shrine grounds, so the space to lift the kanto lanterns is very limited and quite narrow. Therefore, the people lifting the kanto, known as “sashite,” are often the top performers from each neighborhood. Seeing so many kanto lanterns crowded together is quite a rare and impressive sight.
The kanto lanterns with the shrine’s main hall in the background made for very photogenic moments. I believe this event deserves more recognition, so next year, I plan to invite more friends to join me.

El 10.º Festival Tanabata del Santuario Hie Hachiman
El año pasado, asistí por primera vez al Festival Tanabata del Santuario Hie Hachiman. Me conmovió profundamente la vista increíble de numerosas linternas “kanto” siendo levantadas en los terrenos del santuario. Este año, lo esperaba con muchas ganas.
El festival comienza con las actuaciones de los jóvenes intérpretes “kowaka” y continúa con las actuaciones de los “owaka”. Naturalmente, hay árboles altos dentro de los terrenos del santuario, por lo que el espacio para levantar las linternas kanto es muy limitado y bastante estrecho. Por lo tanto, las personas que levantan los kanto, conocidos como “sashite”, suelen ser los mejores intérpretes de cada vecindario. Ver tantas linternas kanto juntas es una vista bastante rara e impresionante.
Las linternas kanto con el salón principal del santuario como fondo crearon momentos muy fotogénicos. Creo que este evento merece más reconocimiento, así que el próximo año, planeo invitar a más amigos a unirse a mí.
